Kanyashree

Kanyashree Prakalpa is one of the flagship schemes of Government of West Bengal for improvement of the life and status of girls and to prevent child marriage. The scheme has got international recognition recently by the United Nations. The Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal was conferred with UNPSA award 2017 for the success and contribution of the Kanyashree scheme.
The modalities of this scheme includes two (2) types of scholarships.K1 provides Rs.750/- every year for girls within Age group of 13-18 years. While K2 provides a one time grant of Rs. 25000/- for every girl who has continued her studies even after attaining age of 18 years and has remained unmarried.
Statistics:
Kalimpong District is working on its own from 2017-18 onwards, after it’s bifurcation from Darjeeling.
